Curtains up for the A1 Major Klagenfurt/Kärnten! From July 26^th to the 31^st the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series, the best Beach Volleyball league worldwide, is finally coming home. Kick-off for the world-class event was today’s press conference in the Seepark Hotel in Klagenfurt/Kärnten.

The highlight of the Austrian summer sporting event calendar and the fourth stop of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series 2016 has a very special focus this year. For the world’s best teams, the A1 Major Klagenfurt is the final test as well as the last warm-up before the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Packed stadiums and amazing atmosphere at the Major tournaments

The first three tournaments of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series 2016 have already taken the sport to a whole new level. With full stadiums and an incredible atmosphere, the smart Major Hamburg (Winner Laura Ludwig/Kira Walkenhorst/GER and Nick Lucena/Phil Dalhausser/USA), the Poreč Major (Julia Sude/Chantal Laboureur/GER and Alison Cerutti/Bruno Schmidt/BRA vs. Clemens Doppler/Alex Horst/AUT in the final) and the Gstaad Major (Pedro Solberg/Evandro/BRA and Larissa Franca/Talita Antunes/BRA) were real favorites.

A forecast of Rio and a chance for the underdogs

After the Olympic groups have been drawn at the Gstaad Major, many teams now have the chance to observe their upcoming Rio opponents at the A1 Major Klagenfurt. Direct duels between the Olympic favorites at the Wörthersee offer an outlook to the upcoming showdown in the massive stadium of Copacabana. As some of the teams have already left for Brazil, the chance for others who have not yet qualified for the Olympics are naturally rising. Therefore, fun, pressure and excitement are guaranteed!

Beach Majors GmbH are partnering with FIVB at Copacabana’s House of Volleyball

The success of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series is reflected in the commitment with the Olympic Games: The FIVB does not organize entertainment in the massive Olympic stadium at Copacabana, which can host up to 12,000 fans alone. As partner of the FIVB, Beach Majors is hosting opinion leaders, high-level politicians and media representatives from all over the world to familiarize them with their unique event. During a press conference at Copacabana, the future of beach volleyball in Austria will also be discussed.
