If ever there was evidence that being a part of Klagenfurt was a big deal, then we only had to look at the list of entries for next week’s Klagenfurt Major!

At our last count, there was a whopping 99 men’s and 75 women’s teams who had entered themselves into the annual summer spectacular on the shores of Lake Wörthersee.

Obviously not all of them can take part and only 32 from each gender can go forward to the main draw. However, you simply can’t fail to be excited about the first ever Klagenfurt Major when such sheer numbers of teams are interested in wowing the capacity crowds.

Impressively, of the teams that have put themselves forward so far, 21 are bound for the Olympics, too, which kicks off just six days after the men’s final in Carinthia. What a way to warm up for Rio!

What is even more remarkable is that of these 174 interested parties (yes that’s 348 individual players, by the way) 40 countries from around the globe, from Germany to Ghana, from New Zealand to Norway and from Australia to Argentina, are represented.

There truly is an international feel about one of the world’s greatest beach volleyball events and to say we’re looking forward to it is an understatement.

Over the next week we’ll continue our build up to the first Klagenfurt Major so keep your eyes peeled!
