Wednesday’s a big day at the A1 Major Klagenfurt because – drum roll please – the women’s main draw has been made!

And there’s going to be a right royal rumble in Pool C with three of the four teams paired together heading for the Olympics.

It’s a real group of death and it contains Polish pair Brzostek/Kolosinska, Australia’s Laird/Artacho and Birlova/Ukolova of Russia. At last year’s European Championship finals in Klagenfurt, the Russians won silver and Poles scooped bronze!

Ludwig/Walkenhorst, who won our first Major this summer, the smart Major Hamburg, topped the podium here last year at the European Championships and the Olympic-bound German duo face Canadians Broder/Valjas in Pool A.

Fellow Germans and Olympic hopes Borger/Büthe are in Pool B alongside in-form Finns Lahti/Lehtonen and up-and-coming Swiss team Hüberli/Betschart.

Our perfect Poreč Major winners Laboureur/Sude aren’t going to the Copacabana but will face stern test from a team heading to Brazil in Pool D in Argentina’s Gallay/Klug.

In Pools F and G more Olympian partnerships will go head-to-head: Australia’s Bawden/Clancy and Hermannová/Slukova of the Czech Republic meet in Pool G, while Liliana/Elsa of Spain will meet Swiss stars Forrer/Vergé-Dépré.

And last but by no means least, Austria’s big hopes hang on Schwaiger/Hansel who will go toe-to-toe in Pool H with teams from Brazil, Germany and the United States.

The action gets under way at 9am on Wednesday with the men’s qualification matches with an all-Austrian affair kicking things off.

And then the women take to the stage from 11am with the first of the Pool Play matches.

It’s going to be a busy day at the A1 Major Klagenfurt – but if you stay with us on our social media platforms and online streams you won’t miss a thing!
