Women’s semifinal line-up complete
We’ve already said it was a good day for Switzerland early today but it got even better this afternoon at the A1 Major Klagenfurt.
Why’s that we hear you screaming from your sunny position inside the Center Court… Well the Swiss have two teams in the semifinals which means they are guaranteed a place on the podium for the very first time in Klagenfurt history!
Young duo Hüberli/Betschart progressed to the last four as a result of an injury to Czech star Barbora Hermannová. The youngsters have never reached the last four of a tournament before. Congrats girls!
However, there were some proper celebrations on Center Court when Heidrich/Zumkehr stunned Spanish side Liliana/Elsa in straights. Hopp Schwiiz indeed!
Hüberli/Betschart face a huge test in the semis though…heard of Ludwig/Walkenhorst? Well you should have, we write about them enough! That’s because they’re always winning! The Germans survived five match points against Forrer/Vergé-Dépré but pulled through to book their eighth semifinal appearance in their last nine tournaments.
For Heidrich/Zumkehr, the Swiss stars flying to Brazil next week, their prize for smashing the Spaniards is a massive semifinal match-up against Argentina’s Gallay/Klug who delighted the Center Court crowd with a stunning three-set victory over Germans Borger/Büthe.
So, there we have it – we have our semifinal line-up in the women’s tournament and on Saturday one of them will be crowned A1 Major Klagenfurt champions!
See you tomorrow girls!
