German superstars Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst stormed into their second Swatch Major Series final of the season with a stunning victory over young Swiss team Hüberli/Betschart at the A1 Major Klagenfurt.

The girls from Switzerland were playing in their first ever semifinal and won their first two points of the first set – only for the Germans to pummel 10 points in succession in reply – and the smart Major Hamburg champions never looked back, taking the set with ease 21-11.

It was a tighter and more tense affair in the second set. Ludwig/Walkenhorst trailed by two points at one stage but then won five points on the spin to take control. Back came Hüberli/Betschart, levelling in an exhilarating ding-dong battle in front of a packed Center Court.

But the Germans were too strong as their incredible teamwork began to tell. Victory means Ludwig/Walkenhorst are now one win away from securing a fifth gold of the season to add to their ever-growing collection. They advance to the final which kicks off at 3.30pm.

All is not lost for Hüberli/Betschart, however, as they aim for third place – and their first ever medal on the FIVB World Tour together – at 2.15pm.
