Heidrich/Zumkehr find their form to reach the final
Here’s something to shout about from the top of the Swiss alps…Switzerland are guaranteed a women’s medal for the first time in the history of Klagenfurt!
Copacabana-bond Heidrich/Zumkehr continued their hot streak against Argentina’s Gallay/Klug and booked their first appearance in a Swatch Major Series final.
On a sweltering Center Court, the Swiss dominated against a team who they have beaten on four previous occasions.
And four wins became five as Heidrich/Zumkehr took the first set 21-17 with some breathtaking beach volleyball.
The Swiss might not have hit top gear on home sand in Gstaad but they continued to impress in Carinthia and they soon put the semifinal to bed by winning the second set in even better style, triumphing 21-17.
It is Heidrich/Zumkehr’s first final on the FIVB World Tour since they won the Sochi Open in May. They will meet all-conquering German duo Ludwig/Walkenhorst in the showpiece final at 3.30pm today.
